Honey Bee Swarm

Swarm Removal

During warmer months, honeybees work to build hive numbers. When a void reaches capacity, the colony splits and the old queen with half the workers search for a new location.

  • Non-aggressive swarms (unless provoked)
  • Typically move along within 2-3 days
  • Immediate relocation available
  • Preservation-focused approach

Structural Removal

More complex than swarm removals, structural removals involve bees that have established hives within buildings and structures.

  • Thermal imaging assessment
  • Live removal preferred when safe
  • Africanized bee safety protocols
  • Damage minimization and repair coordination

Safety of employees and neighbors is our top priority with aggressive colonies

Honey Bee Fun Facts

Incredible Production

An average bee can only produce about 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime. To create one pound of honey, bees must gather nectar from 2 million flowers.

Colony Strength

A colony contains between 20,000-60,000 bees and one queen who can lay between 1000-2000 eggs per day during peak season.

Types of Honey Bee Removal Services

Honey Bee Swarms

During the warmer months, honeybees are working hard to build the hive's numbers for the nectar flow. Depending on the size of the void or cavity the bees occupy determines a lot to the overall strength of the hive.

Once the void has reached close to capacity for brood, honey, and pollen, the hive workers begin preparation of a swarm. A bee swarm is where the old queen and half of the workers abscond from the original hive in search for a new location.

Swarm Removal Process

As part of Currin Pest Control's work with local and commercial beekeepers, we strive to rehome as many swarms as possible to help ensure that the bee population grows for the benefit of all.

Having been a beekeeper for more than ten years, Mike and his family believe that honey bees play an extremely important role in the future of mankind. During the swarm season, you can always rely on us for honey bee hive removal and bee swarm removal when needed.

  • Preservation Focused: We rehome swarms whenever possible
  • Expert Handling: Over 10 years of beekeeping experience
  • Quick Response: Available during swarm season

Structural Removals

Honey bee structural removals are more complex than that of swarm removals. Once the bees have chosen a structure to move into, all bees fly to the new location and get started construction on the new honey comb. Eggs can be laid within just a few hours of moving into a new location.

To help understand how extensive a hive removal will be, Currin Pest Control uses thermal images to show clients the extent of the hive before any work is done to extract the hive.

Our Structural Removal Approach

  • Thermal imaging assessment
  • Live removal preferred when safe
  • Safety protocols for Africanized bees
  • Damage minimization during extraction
  • Temporary security of openings
